MyHeartArt is a digital tool developed by the cardiology team at Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) that allows anyone on the care team to quickly produce an anatomically correct, artist-quality rendering of a patient’s specific congenital heart defect as well as changes as a patient progresses through care.
The web-based digital tool can illustrate the anomaly in size and location of an area in the heart as well as intracardiac shunts, mechanical valves, stents, blood clots, and more (100+ different characteristic selections to allow the user to build a personalized illustration). The illustrations become a tool to help the care team understand and support the patient’s needs and develop a shared understanding among the entire team. Descriptions and summaries can be added to the illustration then printed in a professional format.
