When St. Joseph Health launched Inneo in 2013 (formerly known as The Innovative Institute), their vision was to create a first-of-its-kind innovation platform engaging and empowering clinicians to turn their ideas and insights into solutions that lower healthcare costs and improve patient outcomes. They also believed strongly that ownership be shared with other like-minded health systems, so that the organization would be independent from any single system and remain nimble and capable of adapting quickly to new challenges and opportunities.

During our first decade, these objectives were achieved. By 2015, The Innovation Institute ownership expanded to 6 prominent non-profit health systems, geographically dispersed across the United States. In collaboration with its clinical innovators, Innovation Lab launched more than 25 successful medical products.

Our health tech innovation pillar, Inneo Lab, partners with health systems, clinicians, innovators and patients to identify, develop, design, and commercialize groundbreaking medical technologies, devices, and processes. With dozens of products successfully commercialized and tens of millions of dollars of IP value generated, Inneo Lab’s product development expertise spans the entire process from pain point to early market access. We work with industry partners to support commercialization with sales, marketing, and distribution.
