At The Butterfly Pig, we transform pediatric care through realistic, research-backed medical toys designed to reduce anxiety, boost cooperation, and empower families.
Created by a pediatric nurse and engineer, our 80+ educational tools help kids understand healthcare through play—saving staff time, reducing burnout, and improving satisfaction scores. Because when kids feel brave, hospitals thrive.
As a pediatric oncology nurse, I saw firsthand how children learn best—through play. I watched anxiety fade when a child could “practice” with their doll first. I saw confidence grow when a parent could help prepare for a procedure using a toy. But I also saw the gap: Nurses and Child Life Specialists often spent valuable time crafting makeshift teaching tools because realistic medical toys didn’t exist.
I knew there had to be a better way.
So I started creating the tools I wished I had at the bedside—realistic, durable, child-friendly replicas of medical equipment that teach, prepare, and comfort.
Tools that help kids process what’s happening.
That invite parents to participate.
That support staff by making procedures smoother and less intimidating.
At The Butterfly Pig, we create realistic medical toys that empower kids, involve parents, and support staff—all through the power of play. Our 3D-printed tools are designed to ease anxiety, improve cooperation, and make healthcare more child friendly.
In 90+ hospitals worldwide
We’re helping healthcare systems lead in trauma-informed care—using medical play to reduce anxiety, build trust, and ease the care experience for patients, staff, and families.
Research-driven design
Our tools are backed by years of published research and our own CCLS-guided perception-based study. Hospitals reported up to 40% reduced anxiety and 150% increased cooperation after just one interaction with our tools.
30,000+ medical toys distributed
That’s over 30,000 children who’ve seen their unique medical experience reflected in play—making care feel less scary, and their stories feel seen.
